Commercial mining of natural gemstones is one of the most destructive industries on the planet. For every 1 carat of diamond, 1,100 tonnes of earth needs to be excavated from the ground. Gemstone mining has a negative environmental, social and economic impact; and often results in:

･ Loss of natural habitat.
･ Displacement of people and wildlife.
･ Irreversible air, water and ground pollutions.
･ Extensive Carbon footprint and energy consumption powered by fossil fuels, from land and sea exploration, excavation to restoration after depletion.

Laboratory-grown gemstones have a lot of positive aspects when compared to natural mined gemstones. No mining and no excavation and loss of natural habitats are necessary with significantly lower environmental impact. Laboratory grown gemstones stones are grown in a controlled, safe environment powered by renewable energy.

Our laboratory grown gemstones are powered by material science innovations and our vision to turn waste to wonder, from diamonds synthesised from carbon dioxide captured from the air, to gemstones synthesised from fruit and vegetable pigments and bio-resin, to gemstones re-constructed from lapidary off-cuts.

Every laboratory-grown and created gemstone is carefully selected for its beauty and optical qualities, determined by its brilliance, colour, clarity, hardness, durability and pricing. From the rough stone, it is then cut, faceted, polished and set painstakingly by hand using traditional artisanal techniques.

The gemological composition and chemical structure of the stones we use can be identical (known as synthesised) or different (known as simulated) to its natural mined counterparts.

A laboratory-grown SYNTHESISED gemstone has the same chemical composition, structure and hardness, colours and brilliance to their natural mined counterparts. Synthesised gemstones can also have inclusions or perfect clarity.

A laboratory-grown SIMULATED gemstone shares similar optical qualities, colours and brilliance but have different different chemical composition and structure, hardness and durability to their natural mined counterparts. Simulated gemstones usually have perfect clarity and colour saturations, some varieties can also have improved hardness, durability and stability. A simulated gemstone is always chosen for its balance in optical qualities, beauty, durability and pricing.

While most gemstones are minerals, some are also rocks or organic materials.

A mineral gemstone has a specific chemical composition and crystalline structure, such as diamonds, sapphires, and emeralds. Some gemstones are rocks, which are made of a combination of minerals, like opals. Certain materials from living organisms are also considered gemstones, such as pearls, amber, and coral. Amber, for example, is made of fossilized tree resin that has undergone polymerisation and oxidation to become a gemstone.

Fruit Gems™ is a new innovative material that is composed of natural pigmentations from fruits and vegetables, stabilised and bonded with a bio resin foundation derived from organic matter such as agave, soy bean and avocado seeds. It is used in our jewellery creations, in combination with other traditional laboratory-grown gemstones such as sapphires, rubies, tourmalines and more.

Regenerative-Gemstones™ are new ornamental gemstones reconstructed from lapidary off-cuts, bonded with a bio resin to give waste fragments a dazzling second life. We present a reimagined Amber, infused with the golden hues of autumn leaves and twigs, alongside sustainably regenerated rose quartz, amethyst, malachite, turquoise, chalcedony and lapis lazuli.
